General Description of Test: | The battery consists of three tests designed for the selection of applicants to operative jobs in an industrial production environment. The Understanding Instructions Test (VWP1 - 39 items with a 12 min. time limit) aims to measure the ability to understand simple written instructions of a type that a production operative might be expected to act upon. The Working with Numbers Test (NWP2 - 36 items with a 10 min. time limit) is designed to measure the ability to make fast and accurate calculations. Numerical information is presented in a work-related format and the candidate must select the answer from a number of alternatives. The Visual Checking Test (CWP3 - 30 items with a seven min. time limit) is designed to measure the ability to match two sets of indicators (lights and switches) which are linked by simple rules. This ability is linked to the requirement for operatives to be able to check the settings on various pieces of equipment on production tasks. The tests are speeded and they may be used separately or together, depending on specific requirements. |
